Remembering Terri
Today is the one year anniversary of Terri Schiavo's death. May she rest in peace.
Fr. Rob Johansen, a priest of the Diocese of Kalamazoo, MI, who spent some time with Terri's family in Florida writes about the shift in our culture that allowed what happened to Terri to happen at all.

Tenebrae
On Palm Sunday, April 9, a Tenebrae service will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral in Worcester at 7pm.
This beautiful service of Scripture Readings and hymns symbolizes the temporary triumph of evil over good. One by one the candles are extinguished until only the Christ Candle remains. The Christ Candle is then hidden and there is the strepitus, a loud noise symbolizing the earthquake at the time of Christ's death. The Christ Candle then reappears, reminding us to look forward to Christ's Resurrection. Tenebrae is a great way to begin Holy Week and prepare for the event of Holy Week.
If you've never before attended a Tenebrae service, or if you haven't had a chance to hear the Cathedral Choir, please consider coming. You'll thank me for it.

My Fortune
When I first started my current job, we would go out for Chinese food every so often. I once got this fortune which has been sitting on my desk ever since: You are a lover of words, someday you will write a book.
I haven't been doing much writing in the years since I received that fortune, but it's still on my desk.
I like to think that it will come true. One day I will write a book. But not today.

Out of the mouth of babes
On Monday night I took my 5 year-old nephew to Friendly's for dinner, explaining to him ahead of time that we wouldn't be getting dessert because it was Lent.
When we had finished our dinner, the waitress asked us if we would like any ice cream, and, of course, I said, "No".
After she had left, my nephew leaned over to me and stage whispered "You forgot to tell her it was Lent!"

Coming soon....
I started this blog thinking that I needed a place to talk about what's going on in the Catholic Young Adult scene in Worcester. (Not much, but I keep hoping to change that!) So, I hope some of you will stop by and find some useful or interesting information here.
